’10 & Under’ & ’12 & Under’ Round Robin
This is a ‘fun’ mini Round Robin tournament run to supplement the Main tournament to enable siblings (not experienced enough to enter main tournament) to play tennis in a friendly and somewhat laid back environment.
Players who have played in the main tournament CANNOT enter the Round Robin.
ALL ROUND ROBIN PLAY IS AT THE MERCY OF THE WEATHER AND COURT AVAILABILITY. MAIN TOURNAMENT WILL ALWAYS TAKE PRIORITY OVER COURTS
NO entries for this event will be taken prior to Hunstanton Tennis Week (i.e. NO Online Entries) but entries taken from Sunday morning for girls / boys singles and doubles. Last opportunity for entry is 12 noon on Tuesday.
(Mixed doubles will run on completion of singles / doubles and only if time allows. Entries taken ON THE DAY; usually on the Friday afternoon)
Paper entries completed by a parent / guardian using LTA age calculator. Entry forms can only be obtained from the Referees’ Marquee.
A competitors age group will be determined as per the main tournament – using the LTA age calculator.
It is based on your age on 31st August on the year of the tournament.
8 years of age on 31st August = 10 & Under
9 years of age on 31st August = 10 & Under
10 years of age on 31st August = 10 & Under
11 years of age on 31st August = 12 & Under
12 years of age on 31st August = 12 & Under
13+ years of age on 31st August cannot enter the Round Robin.
On closure of entries, players are then grouped according to their age. There could be 4, 5 or 6 in each group. List of Groups will be displayed in pavilion window and online by 6pm Tuesday evening. Request to contact asap if any amendment necessary.
Order of play will also be posted at same time for ‘scheduled’ start of play on Wednesday for some of the groups. IF your child is not scheduled to play on the Wednesday then they will be on the ‘provisional’ schedule for Thursday. Please check displayed notices for any updates.
The assembly for the Round Robin Tournament will take place adjacent to Court 38 on the far side of the ‘out field’
Each player in the group shall play 5 games against all others in the group
Serve is determined by spin of racket
Server to call out score after each point played
Underarm serve is acceptable but no ‘bounce’ before hit
Only the players on court at that time to make decisions
If decision cannot be reached AND AGREED UPON, play the point again.
Any doubts, please seek help from RR Organiser AT THE TIME.
Though a ‘fun’ tournament, we would wish that court etiquette be observed at all times.
The player with the HIGHEST total of games in that group will go through to a knock- out round (playing a short set); REGARDLESS of number of players in that group. Should there be a tie on number of games won in a group then winner shall be the player who WON against the person with whom he / she tied game total with. Should there be 6 groups in an age range the 6 group winners go through PLUS the 2 highest runners up out of all 6 groups. 5 groups: 5 winners + 3 highest R/U and so on. If there is a variance of numbers in groups then a percentage is calculated to ensure equality to all regardless of number in group / games won.
