Britain's biggest
Tennis Tournament
established in 1920

A message from us..

Dear All,

We hope you had a smashing time at this year’s Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament. Once again it was another bumper year in terms of competitors – around 1,300 players including those youngsters in the ever-popular under-10s and under-12s round robin event making it the biggest tennis tournament in Britain.

We would like to thank you for your support and for ‘ordering’ the superb weather that assisted both ourselves as organisers, you as a player and ensured that spectators enjoyed watching the excellent tennis while topping up their suntans!

A big thank you for all those who help support our charity appeal this year for East Anglia’s Children Hospices (EACH). Funds are still coming in and should finally be around the £1,800 mark.

Our attention now turns to what promises to be a very special 2020 Tournament. Taking place from Sunday, August 16 with finals day on Saturday, August 22, we will be celebrating 100 years since the start of the Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament.

First played in 1920, we hope you will join us in celebrating 100 years of the Tournament at a social event for all the family on Thursday, August 20 at the Recreation Ground. While the event is still taking shape we plan to have ‘street food’ available and live music from early evening. Additionally, a booklet charting the history of the Tournament will be published and special ‘100-year’ merchandise will be available during the week.

Several Tournament ‘regulars’ will be providing the music and if you would like to join the ‘band’ please email Tournament secretary Chris Holt – [email protected] Additionally, if you have memories and photographs of the Tournament from yesteryear please email Tournament committee member Ashley Martin – [email protected] – who is compiling the history.

Additionally, with your help it is hoped that those photographs will feature in a special ‘100-years’ exhibition during next year’s Tournament.

Once again, we hope you enjoyed ‘Sunny Hunny’ 2019 and we look forward to seeing you in 2020 and a 100-year celebration.

Best wishes,

The Committee.
