CHARITY OF THE YEAR
Hunstanton and District Foodbank is this year’s charity of the Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament.
The Foodbank is based in St. Edmund’s Church Hall on the town’s Church Street where it has been since opening in November 2014.
Sadly, the number of people that need the Foodbank’s help and the amount of food given out has been increasing steadily year-on year-since launch.
Financial deprivation is something that is often unseen; last year the Foodbank distributed more than nine tonnes of food to people in Hunstanton and the surrounding villages.
Like many other foodbanks, it also helps those who are in need with gas and electric top-ups, and give out vouchers redeemable in local shops for fresh meat and fruit and vegetables.
However, it is only through the generosity of those who donate food and money that the Foodbank is able to continue offering its services.
Therefore, during Tournament week please give generously to the Foodbank, which will have a stall on the Recreation Ground’s Pavilion Drive and volunteers will be on site with collection boxes.
